Merrick Produces Derby Festival and PGA Posters

 

Derby.gif (90902 bytes) Louisville, KY (June 4, 1997) -- The Merrick Printing Company, Inc., of Louisville, KY, was selected for the second straight year to produce the "Official" 1997 Kentucky Derby Festival poster, distributed and sold worldwide.

This year’s poster was designed by two well known Louisville twins, Doreen and Jeaneen Barnhart, who also designed the award winning 1994 Derby Festival Poster.

The Derby Festival is an annual two week event that culminates with the running of the Kentucky Derby. This year was the 123 running of the Kentucky Derby which was won by Silver Charm. This event drew well over 2 million participants throughout the two week festival. The event included the world’s largest fireworks display during the day long "Thunder Over Louisville" show. The air show was highlighted by the appearance of many of the U.S. Air Force’s state-of-the-art planes, including the F-16 Thunderbirds, celebrating the Air Force’s 50th anniversary.

PGA.gif (92887 bytes) The Merrick Printing Company was also chosen to print the 1996 PGA Golf Experience poster which was sold at the 1996 PGA held in Louisville at the prestigious Valhalla Golf Club.
