For 3rd Straight Year, Merrick Produces
Louisville, KY (May 2, 1998) -- For the third straight year, The Merrick Printing Company, Inc., of Louisville, Ky., was selected to produce the official 1998 Kentucky Derby Festival poster, distributed and sold worldwide. This year's poster was designed by California graphic artist Michael Schwab, whose international clients include Ralph Lauren, Reebok, Nike and Coca-Cola. Featuring the design of a horse and jockey, the poster vividly captures a moment from the world-famous race against a brilliant gold background. The Derby Festival is an annual two week event that culminates with the running of the Kentucky Derby. More than 2 million people participate in activities throughout the Festival, including a hot-air Balloon Race, the Great Steamboat Race, and the world's largest fireworks display, "Thunder Over Louisville." "It is great to play a role in our community's flagship event," said M. David Merrick, president of the company.
